If you want to experience Düsseldorf in a relaxed, social way with Altbier, Hendrik’s Beer Tour is usually the best choice. If you have less time or guests who simply want to get a compact first impression of the city, the short city walk is a better fit. And if you want something more specific, such as a pub quiz, tasting, special theme, custom route or a particular final stop, an individual tour makes the most sense.
Yes, private tours are often the best option for exactly that. Many groups book the tour for a stag do or hen do in Düsseldorf, a company event, team event, staff outing, club trip or private evening with friends. The big advantage is that the pace, route and atmosphere can be adjusted to your group. A stag or hen group usually wants things a bit more lively, while company groups often prefer a good mix of entertainment, city atmosphere, brewery culture and shared experience. If you already have a restaurant, bar, hotel or another plan afterwards, the tour can often be arranged to finish there.
Depending on the day, group size and how busy the Old Town is, well-known Düsseldorf breweries and Altbier places such as Uerige, Füchschen, Schlüssel, Schumacher, Kürzer or other suitable stops may play a role. Sometimes a pub like Retematäng or another Old Town spot simply fits the group better.
The route is deliberately flexible. In Düsseldorf it is often much better to react to full breweries, the mood of the group and the situation on the day than to force everyone through a fixed checklist.
There are also interesting Altbier places outside the Old Town, for example Brauhaus Alter Bahnhof in Oberkassel, Altus or Joh. Albrecht. They are not directly in the Old Town, so they are usually not part of the classic beer tour, but they are definitely worth a visit.
Yes, the tours are also available in German. That is usually the best choice for German-speaking groups, local teams, clubs, stag dos, hen dos and visitors from the region. The content is still the same: Düsseldorf Old Town, the Rhine, breweries, Altbier, small stories, personal recommendations and a feeling for how the city really works. That depends on the tour you book. Depending on the format, many well-known Düsseldorf highlights can be part of the route: the Old Town, the Rhine promenade, Königsallee, the Media Harbour with the Gehry buildings, the Rhine Tower, the Castle Tower, the city elevation monument, Ratinger Tor, Ratinger Straße, Bolkerstraße and of course the famous longest bar in the world.
Places like K20, the Art Academy, the view across to Oberkassel or smaller side streets and local stories can also be part of the experience. On Hendrik’s Beer Tour, the focus is mainly on Altbier, breweries, pubs and the atmosphere of the Old Town. On the short city walk, the idea is to get a compact and entertaining feel for Düsseldorf. An individual tour can be adjusted even more freely to your interests.
Yes, especially with individual tours there is quite a lot we can do. I have been hosting the Monday Night Pub Quiz at O’Reilly’s for around ten years and can also organise pub quiz formats there, at your company or in another suitable location on request. For companies, teams and larger groups, this can work especially well. Tastings, special themes, unusual stops or programmes with cooperation partners are also possible if they fit the group and the occasion.
